Police arrest individuals suspected of vandalising activist’s house

PUCHONG: The police have arrested four individuals believed to be involved in vandalising the home of an environmental activist recently.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said the four suspects were arrested following a raid in a townhouse in Damansara, Petaling Jaya, yesterday.

“We arrested four Chinese men between the age of 20 and 31 in the raid.

“The police also confiscated a car used when vandalising the house, a Samurai sword, a cell phone which was used to record the incident and a packet of syabu,” he said.

Last week, environmental activist Pua Ley Peng’s house in Banting was splashed with red paint. Since then, she had feared for her family’s safety.

Pua has been vocal against several illegal factories located in Banting and Jenjarom and suspects her activism may have irked some quarters.

Huzir said from their preliminary interrogation, three out of the four suspects have admitted to be directly involved in the case.

“All four of them admitted to be part of Geng 24 and have received payments from a certain individual.

“And they also have past criminal records related to various crimes and drugs,” he said.
