PM Anwar says Public Sector Open Data Portal paves way for enhanced transparency

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said the revamped Public Sector Open Data Portal would usher in a new era of improved transparency within the country’s civil service.

In a statement today, Anwar said the portal housing official data made available by the government has been improved with data sets that were more granular and high frequency, which would hopefully fuel innovation both within the public and private sectors.

“The portal is now equipped with Malaysia’s official Open API, analytical dashboards, data catalogues, and artificial intelligence. It has also been upgraded to meet international standards,” he said.

According to Anwar, the relaunch of the portal by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Datuk Seri Zuki Ali today signalled its significance as the Malaysian government’s official open data repository.

Anwar highlighted the importance of the digitalisation agenda in driving innovation and productivity growth in the country.

The prime minister also said the government plays an important role in building an enabling ecosystem that will boost the digital-based economy and increase the country’s competitiveness regionally and beyond.
