PH is not intimidated by PAS, UMNO marriage

KUALA LUMPUR, March 6: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) is not afraid to see the coalition of PAS and UMNO because this gives many opportunities and issues to expose that both parties have made it mandatory for them to lie.
The Prime Minister said that the coalition was rather interesting because the basis for the break-up and formation of PAS earlier had yet to be resolved.
“UMNO Ulama left the party to form PAS purportedly because of Islam. Furthermore, during the previous UMNO leadership, one of the reasons that the merger and in fact the cooperation between UMNO and PAS did not take place was because PAS had declared UMNO as an infidel party,”he said in his entry in his official blog, chedet.cc tonight.
Dr Mahathir, who is also PH chairman, said among the other factors were that PAS did not want to cooperate with UMNO in the past because UMNO adopted a constitution which was alleged to be secular and non-Islamic.
“PAS had never revoked the edict or “fatwa”. Has PAS Islamised UMNO”Dr Mahathir asked.
This was among the basis in the ‘Amanat Haji Hadi’ (Haji Hadi’s Message) which led to prayers under two Imam, refusing to eat any meat slaughtered by UMNO people, prayers for a dead body by PAS members had to be repeated by UMNO people, banning children from marrying offsprings of UMNO members, banning wives from voting for UMNO and if this happens, then the couple involved will face divorce and many other things,”he said.
Dr Mahathir also questioned whether all the restrictions and practices had been withdrawn or ordered to be stopped.
“Do UMNO people accept that they and PAS are different in religion but the difference is accepted by both parties,” he said.
Looking at current developments, he said the cooperation between UMNO and PAS was more towards returning the former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the leader and permitting all the crimes alleged against him.
“Has PAS already considered Najib who is facing charges of corruption and abuse of power as innocent
“Are corruption, abuse of power and crime permissible in the name of the unity of Malays and Islam Is this a mandatory lie
“Najib has not been found guilty because the trial has yet to be held. Will Najib be accepted as a PAS leader if he is found guilty,” he asked.
Dr Mahathir said: “If PAS members and leaders are aware of what is going on around the world, why are they still willing to conspire with UMNO and Najib
“Don’t they realise that many UMNO members have left UMNO because it has become a kleptocracy and not democracy.
“They must be aware of how some of the world’s most famous banks have been closed down and their officials were prosecuted and jailed for involvement in the 1MDB scandal,” he said.
Dr Mahathir said PAS should be aware of the value applied when working with Najib and UMNO when currently Najib called himself and called by his followers as ‘Boss’ who should not be ashamed.
“Boss means ‘My Lord’. Has PAS also been willing to become a slave to someone who is believed to have stolen. Has PAS no longer any feeling of shame when it accepts Najib as the ‘boss’” said Dr Mahathir.
Dr Mahathir also spoke of several PAS leaders who had come to see him and handed over a document pledging to support him as the Prime Minister.
PAS leaders said they would not campaign to support BN in Semenyih. But on nomination day, many PAS leaders were present together with BN leaders. Is this the PAS promise”asked Dr Mahathir.
Yesterday, UMNO and PAS announced officially that they would focus on unity of the ummah or people.
