Perak now under Perikatan Nasional, may see new MB

PUCHONG: Perikatan Nasional will form the new Perak state government today, following Bersatu’s departure from Pakatan Harapan.

Speaking at a press conference today, Perak menteri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said Perikatan Nasional now has the support of 32 state assemblymen to form a new state government.

“Bersatu (4), Umno (25) and PAS (3) now have the majority to form a new state government, from the total 59.

“And the new administration will have close ties with the federal government,” he said.

After the Pakatan federal government collapsed last month, several other states have also fallen under Perikatan Nasional’s rule, following Bersatu’s decision to join the new pact.

Among the states that has fallen to Perikatan were Johor and Malacca.

On who would become the new Perak menteri besar, Faizal said that he was still running the state for now.

“A list of names have been submitted to Perak Sultan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

“A new Perak menteri besar will be sworn in after receiving Perak Sultan’s consent,” he said.
