Patriot: Just shut up Zakir Naik

PUCHONG: National Patriots Association has called upon the Indian Muslim preacher Dr Zakir to zip up his mouth instead of pitting Malaysians against one another.

“Zakir spoke and questioned the loyalty of Malaysians of Indian origin, trying to curry favour with our prime minister, ” said Patriot president Brig-Jen (Rtd) Datuk Mohamed Arshad Raji.

The preacher who is wanted in India for terrorism and money laundery charges had claimed that Malaysian Hindus were more loyal to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi than to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. He also said that the Malaysian Hindus enjoy more than 100% rights in Malaysia compared to Muslims in India.

In addition to that he also claimed that Beiing’s mistreatment of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang will affect Malaysia – China relations.

“Any sensitive issue on the Uighur Muslims is best left to our Foreign Ministry. Patriot would like to see Zakir shut up for now, ” said Mohamed Arshad.

“Patriot has no issue if Zakir sticks to his Islamic evangelism work, but do not compare religions. Malaysians have learnt that comparing religions is a taboo, ” he added

“What he uttered about the Hindus in Malaysia and the accusations about China did not reflect on him as a scholar. A scholar is one who is very careful with words and looks at issues objectively, ” said Mohamed Arshad.

Arshad added that Zakir received his permanent residency from the BN regime who used him to distract Malaysians from the 1MDB scandal.

He said that Zakir’s remarks against the Hindus proved that Zakir is ” ignorant, dishonest, and has an ulterior motive and a hidden agenda”.

He also paid tribute to the contribution of the Indian community.

“They have contributed tremendously along with other ethnic groups by serving in the security forces, defending our King and country.

“Several officers and men were awarded gallantry medals fighting our nation’s enemies, ” he added.

Earlier today, Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran confirmed that he would raise this issue in the Cabinet.
