PAS to Kok: Stop confusing us and resolve India’s palm oil boycott

PUCHONG: Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok should stop confusing the people on India’s ban on Malaysian palm oil products and come clean on the matter.

PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said it was confusing for Kok to say that India has not boycotted Malaysian palm oil when the subcontinent had already issued a clear directive on the matter.

“Kok’s statement is confusing as Indian importers have been told not to import any palm oil products from Malaysia. She even claimed that India wanted to increase its purchases.

“The minister should clarify her own statement,” he said, in a statement today.

The PAS leader was commenting on a news report yesterday where Kok had denied that the Indian government had boycotted Malaysian palm oil.

Tuan Ibrahim said that the government should look for alternative markets in order to stabilise Malaysia palm oil export prospects.

“The government should explore new markets in the Middle East and Asia after the boycott by India,” he said.

Tuan Ibrahim also urged the government to form a committee that will manage Malaysia palm oil business and counter the boycott campaign from Europe.
