Pakistan business chamber to organise award ceremony in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), a business chamber from Pakistan, will be organising an award ceremony on July 9.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Shang-ri La Hotel today, RRCI president Malik Shahid Saleem said the award ceremony is aimed at improving bilateral trade ties between Malaysia and Pakistan.

Malik added that as a prelude to the award ceremony, a business opportunity conference (BOC) will take place tomorrow at Shang-ri la Hotel.

“The purpose of organising the award ceremony and BOC is to improve bilateral trade and attract foreign direct investment to the country,” he said.

He added that RCCI has already brought in more than 300 business participants to Malaysia for the award ceremony.

Malik said that the Malaysian business chambers are showing keen interest in meeting Pakistani businessmen for possible joint ventures and investment in Pakistan.

“Tomorrow, the BOC is going to take place at Shang-ri La Hotel, where 150 companies from Malaysia will be joining us,” he said.

Among the companies that will be joining the conference tomorrow are from the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), MATRADE and Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (NCC).

“There will be further business meetings between the Pakistan and Malaysian business community, which will open doors of opportunities to exchange ideas and make future investment plans,” said Malik.

The award ceremony on July 9 will be attended by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who will be the chief guest of the event.

“The people are excited about the event as Pakistan has a great attachment to Mahathir. His visit to Pakistan on March 23 was remarkable.

“The business community, especially the private sector in Pakistan want to improve ties with their Malaysian counterparts,” Malik said.
