Pakatan turmoil: Khalid rides a balloon, Syed Saddiq still on a ‘fence’, says Najib
PUCHONG: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today lashed out at the government today, as its power struggle is causing a dent on the economy and the battle against the coronavirus.
He also poked fun on several Pakatan leaders, taunting them on whether they have decided on whom to back in the power struggle for premiership.
“Today, Bursa Malaysia took a dive to below 1,500 points due to the power struggle. By 400 points that is.
“On top of that, the coronavirus is now wreaking havoc outside of China. So, what is your priority then?” he asked.

It was earlier speculated that Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad was attempting to form a new pact with Muafakat Nasional and Pakatan leaders aligned to him, in order to cement his grip on the premiership.
After a series of meetings with party leaders and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong since yesterday, in a sudden turn of events, Mahathir has tendered his resignation at 1pm today.
Bersatu had also announced that it was quitting Pakatan, while former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and another 10 were leaving the ruling coalition to form an independent bloc.
Najib said that whatever happens, whether Pakatan remains as the government or otherwise, the power struggle should end immediately for the sake of the nation.
“Our economic stability and the people’s welfare, which was ignored since the last general election, should be prioritised hence forth,” he said.

On a lighter note, Najib poked fun on several Pakatan ministers such as Khalid Samad and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
Posting a news caption highlighting Khalid attending the International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Putrajaya, the minister had apparently described the power struggle as a ‘failed coup’.
“The 7th PM said someone was trying to oust the 7th PM. Eventually, the 7th PM himself failed.
“And what Khalid did after that, he rode on a balloon,” the Pekan MP said.

Poking fun at Syed Saddiq using a picture of the latter climbing up a gate, Najib asked, “Are you still on the fence or have you come down?”
