Najib turns his guns on Nazri Aziz

PUCHONG: Barisan Nasional advisory council chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak has turned his guns on Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz by stating that Nazri was responsible in eroding the Chinese support for the coalition and opposing cooperation with PAS.

Nazri had earlier criticised Najib’s appointment, together with former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar.

“Prior to this, Nazri had objected to the cooperation with PAS and instead urged Umno to sideline MCA and MIC and work with DAP instead.

“In the election (GE14), MCA also informed me that amongst the reasons their Chinese vote declined was due to Nazri’s overboard criticism against (tycoon) Robert Kuok that offended the Chinese community, he said, reported Malay daily Sinar Harian.

He also took Nazri to task for criticising BN instead of criticising their political rival, Pakatan Harapan.

“Nazri or whoever can play the role as BN adviser but is he willing to consistently criticise Harapan?”

He also said that BN component parties were queasy when Nazri was appointed as the coalition’s secretary general.

“We are all aware that previously, he was asked by MCA and MIC to let go of the position as BN secretary-general,” he said.

Nazri is known for his close ties with the DAP and has openly supported the idea of PKR president Anwar Ibrahim becoming the eighth prime minister.
