PUCHONG: Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok Suh Sim has found an ally from the opposition Barisan Nasional coalition in pushing for an increase in the use of palm oil among Malaysians.
Pekan MP Datuk Seri Najib Razak trolled Kok by posting a photo of himself checking out a bottle of Buruh brand cooking oil. The oil is manufactured from palm oil.
He captioned the photograph with a question on his Facebook.
“If I buy this bottle for Teresa Kok, how many spoons (of oil) would she consume?”
The post received 1100 comments and was shared 65 times.
In response Kok shared Najib’s posting and felt honoured that the former prime minister contributed to her current campaign in promoting the usage of palm oil.
“I an honoured that Najib is following my statements on palm oil. I hope he will support Malaysian palm oil by taking two teaspoons a day.

Netizens also took an opportunity to comment on the issue directly to Najib.
One user, @SoulForJustice said urged Najib to use for himself.
“DSNR you can apply to your face as well and hopefully the look (will change) back as previous (before). Try two bottles first.”

In response to Kok, Najib trolled Kok again. This time, on Twitter.
“Teresa Kok is not satisfied with one spoonful of palm oil a day. Now the people have to increase their intake to two spoons a day.
“The people should support Minister Teresa Kok.”
Kok is currently in Europe campaigning to boost the export of palm oil to the European Union.
In recent years, there has been a campaign against the usage of palm oil as the regional organisation has taken a strong stand against environment and deforestation issues.
EU is in the midst of phasing out the use of palm oil in biofuels by 2030.
Kok accused the EU of triggering a trade war.
We see this as a form of trade war by the EU against Malaysia and Indonesia as palm oil producing countries,” she said.
“We will definitely look at what the kinds of trade items that we import from Europe are and we will be looking at other countries (to source them).”
She also reiterated Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s threat to give preference to China and Russia as the preferred market for palm oil.
In Malaysia Kok has gone on record in the Dewan Rakyat promoting the use of palm oil.
She claimed that the usage of palm oil is the secret the youthfulness of Dr Mahathir and herself.
