Najib: National debt has shot up to RM804 bln. What say you, Lim?

PUCHONG: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today slammed the Pakatan Harapan government for ballooning the national debt to exorbitant levels.

In a Facebook post, the Pekan MP cited Bank Negara’s official figure today, which stated that the national debt has reached RM804 billion, by end of September.

“The data doesn’t even include last month’s figure and the second Samurai Bond issuance.

“In two years, the national debt will reach RM1 trillion as imagined by Pakatan Harapan,” he said.

Najib was commenting on the report published by Bank Negara today, entitled ‘Economic And Financial Data for Malaysia’.

Hurling brickbats against Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Najib said the Pakatan government has not fulfilled its promises made in their election manifesto but had conveniently accumulated RM120 billion in debt within 18 months in power.

“When Barisan Nasional was the government, the national debt stood at RM686 billion.

“Let’s see what denial Lim is going to give now,” he said.
