Mujahid appoint KUIS head as international reference for Maqasid Syariah
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia is prepared to appoint the International Union of Muslim Scholars (KUIS) chief Prof Sheikh Dr Ahmad al-Raysuni as an international reference in implementing the administration based on Maqasid Syariah (goals or objectives of Syariah) in this country.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof said other than having a clear thinking on life today, the scholar from Morocco was qualified for selection based on the many books he wrote focusing on the issue of Maqasid Syariah.
‘’Based on this factor, I feel an Islamic administration agency must take the opportunity to listen to his views and opinions academically on Maqasid Syariah.
‘’I thank UniSZA for appointing him as a Visiting Professor recently, meaning he will come to Malaysia once a year, enabling us to turn him into an international reference in implementing the Maqasid Syariah concept in the administration today,’’ he said.
He said this when met by reporters after launching a Maqasid Syariah discussion programme together with Prof Sheikh Dr Ahmad al-Raysuni organised by the Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia (JKSM).
Also present was Malaysian Syariah Judiciary Department director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Naim Mokhtar.
Mujahid said the Maqasid Syariah idea brought about by the renowned professor was also in line with the Rahmatan Lil Alamin concept adopted as the basis of the current government’s administration.
He said Dr Ahmad al-Raysuni also emphasised the importance of prioritising the community in implementing any law or administrative action, and that this was also in line with the current government’s administrative efforts.
