Mujahid: Action against Nur Sajat will be based on Islamic principles
KUALA LUMPUR: Any action to be taken against controversial entrepreneur Muhammad Sajjad Kamaruz Zaman, who wore women’s attire while performing umrah recently, will take into account several elements including Muslims’ concern.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa said he would look into all the information obtained before deciding on action against the cosmetic entrepreneur, who is popularly known as Nur Sajat.
“What’s important is that we want to safeguard the interests of Islam and all Muslims must adhere to Shariah law.
“At the same time if a Muslim commits an offence, he should come back to the true teachings of Islam, do not apologise just for the sake of apologising,” he said, after attending the Jamuan Muhibah programme in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration yesterday.
The event, which was organised by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Nur Sajat sparked controversy after she posted videos of her wearing a telekung, the female prayer garments, while in Makkah.
