Muhyiddin confirms Mat Sabu’s son to be charged in court
KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has confirmed thatthe son of Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu would be charged in court for drug abuse.
The police have submitted its investigation papers to the Attorney General Chambers.
“Instructions have been received (by the police) that (the son) will be charged in court soon,” Muhyiddin without naming his colleague told Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (BN-Lenggong) in a parliamentary written reply dated April 4.
Shamsul had questioned the government standard operating procedure for someone who tested positive for drug abuse and the time needed to obtain the pathology report.
“Why does it take so long for the urine test done on the son of the minister (to be produced)?” questioned Shamsul.
The police have their SOP and specific administration orders when obtaining the urine sample of a person suspected of taking illegal drugs, said Muhyiddin.
These instructions included the Permanent Order of the Inspector-General of Police (PTPKN), the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and other relevant legislation, said Muhyiddin.
The pathology report on the minister’s son has also been received by the police, he added.
Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu’s son was detained by the police on Jan 5 after testing positive for marijuana.
