Mohamad Hasan takes an early lead on early and postal voters in Rantau

SENDAYAN: Umno acting president Mohamad Hassan who is also Barisan Nasional candidate has taken an early lead on early and postal votes.

Mohamad, better known as Tok Mat, garnered 113 votes compared to PKR’s Dr S Streram of Pakatan Harapan.

‘Independents R Malarvizhi and Mohd Nor Yassin did not get any votes.

The votes came in from Rantau police station, Sendayan air base and postal votes.

The EC also noted that this by-election recorded the highest voter turnout since GE14. As of 4pm, the voter turnout was 74 percent.

The second highest turnout is the Semenyih by-election that recorded 73.34 percent.

As of 6.28pm, Mohamad polled 303 votes to Streram’s 77 and Nor Yassin received three votes. This figure is inclusive of voters who polled in SJKT Sendayan.

Voters in Kampung Sega and Linsum too have boosted Tok Mat’s majority. As of 6.39, he garnered 1330 votes compared Streram with 315 votes.

Independents Malarvizhi has 3 votes and Nor Yassin, 10.
