Man, wife die in Tampin road accident

TAMPIN: A man and his wife were killed when the car they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a trailer lorry at Jalan Tampin-Gemas, near the Gedok Mas factory junction, near here, last night.

Mohamad Ismail, 70, and his wife Halijah Hamat, 62, died on the spot in the accident which occurred at 8.50 pm, Tampin police chief Supt Anuwal Ab Wahab said today.

“They were coming from Tampin to Gemas in a Proton Iswara car when it hit the right rear tyre of the trailer lorry heading from Gedok Mas factory road junction to Tampin road,” he said in a statement.

Their bodies were sent to the Tampin Hospital, he said, adding that the 56-year-old driver of the trailer lorry was unhurt.
