Malaysia whitewashes Brunei 8-0

CHONBURI: Malaysia got off to a flying start by whitewashing Brunei 8-0 in the 2019 AFF Under 15 (U-15) Football Championship at the IPE Stadium in Chonburi, Thailand on Sunday.

In today’s action, Muhammad Harry Danish scored a hat-trick in the sixth, 23rd and 46th minute.

Other Malaysian goals were netted by Zubaidi Mohd Buang who scored a brace and also Wan Muhammad Hakim in the dying minute of the match, besides one goal each from Muhammad Nabil Qayyum in the 55th minute and Muhammad Aliff Izwan in the 71st minute, according to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Facebook page.

“Overall, I’m very happy with the performance of my players, and I believe Brunei is not strong as we can see in the match, and that’s why we could score eight goals.

“Facing Cambodia in the second group B match would be a different game, and I think Cambodia are physically strong, and technically, they are good and we must give more than what we had shown against Brunei,” according to national U-15 head coach, P. Maniam.

Other group B results saw the hosts Thailand coming from a goal down before edging Laos 2-1, while Australia defeated Cambodia 3-1.
