Malaysia adds two gold in Asian Bowling Tourney

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian keglers continued their smashing performance by grabbing two more gold medals in the men’s and women’s trio event at the 25th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships in Kuwait on Saturday.

The additional medals saw Malaysia accumulate four golds, having won the men’s and women’s singles event title through Timmy Tan and Shalin Zulkifli respectively, a few days ago.

In today’s action, the national women’s trio comprising Shalin, Esther Cheah and Sin Li Jane, knocked down 4,354 pinfalls in the six blocks to take the gold, according to the Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) website;

Two South Korean trios had to settle for silver and bronze medal, after accumulating 4,311 and 4,297 pinfalls respectively.

Malaysia secured another gold after the men’s trio consisting of Muhammad Rafiq Ismail, Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek and Ahmad Muaz Fisol knocked down 4,290 pinfalls.

The trio from the host country comprising Khaled Aldubyyan, Jasem Alsaqer and Mostafa Almousawi took the silver with 4,280 pinfalls, while another Malaysian trio, Hafiz Zainuddin, Timmy and Tun Hakim Tun Hasnul Hasnul Azam, settled for bronze after knocking down 4,246 pinfalls.

Malaysian keglers will continue their medal hunt in the team of five events (men and women) on Sunday and Monday in the tournament.
