Mahathir: Pejuang will heed King’s advice to ensure political stability

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) will heed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s advice to stop politicking so that Malaysia will be politically stable, said its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said Pejuang welcomed the King’s advice and hoped it would not be limited to opposition politicians only but also the government.

“Pejuang will heed the advice of His Majesty to ensure political stability in Malaysia. Pejuang is willing to cooperate in the efforts by all parties to fight the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page.

Dr Mahathir said they also welcomed the decision taken by Al-Sultan Abdullah and the Malay Rulers not to declare an emergency in the country.

“As a leader of Pejuang, which has yet to be registered, I would like to express our gratitude to His Majesty for prioritising the interests of the people by making a wise decision regarding the proposal to declare an emergency,” he added.

Al-Sultan Abdullah had, yesterday, decreed there is no necessity to declare an emergency after he had carefully studied the request presented by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and discussed it with the Malay rulers, besides looking at the current situation in the country.
