PUCHONG: Penang is famous for its nasi kandar and a food haven to many. However, one of its outlets got into trouble with the authorities.
The outlet has been ordered to close for two weeks, under the state’s Section 38 (1) of its Food Establishment Act by-laws 1991.

According to Penang Island City Council Public Health (MBPP) environmental health officer M Bavani, she said that her team found rats and cockroach droppings in the nasi kandar outlet during inspection.

She also said that the premise would be closed until Jan 22.
“During the period they have to comply with cleanliness requirements as advised, especially regarding pest control against rats, cockroaches and flies,” said Bawani.
