Lim: Dr M will announce stimulus package as planned, on a later date
PUCHONG: Interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would be announcing the economic stimulus package, but on a later date.
In a statement today, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng said that he had met the premier this morning to discuss about the proposed economic stimulus package, which was supposed to be announced on Thursday.
“The Finance Ministry had finalised the economic stimulus package last Sunday and was presented to the prime minister yesterday for his approval. However, Mahathir resigned yesterday,” said the former finance minister.
Yesterday, Mahathir announced his resignation after a political turmoil that has left the Pakatan Harapan ruling coalition in tatters.
However, Mahathir returned on an interim capacity, on the advice of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Early this month, Lim said that the Cabinet was working on an economic stimulus package to help revive industries which was impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.
