Lim: DAP, PH will not become MCA and BN 2

IPOH: DAP will not become MCA 2 and Pakatan Harapan (PH) will never become Barisan Nasional (BN) 2.

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang said it would never happen as PH was committed to the agenda to redevelop the country towards Malaysia Baru (New Malaysia) which was opposed by MCA, Umno and BN,  as well as Muafakat Nasional.

“During 18-month of PH administration, Malaysia had made a good start to form a New Malaysia including the appointment of several key posts such as the Chief Justice, Attorney-General and the Governor of Bank Negara,” he said in his opening speech at the 20th DAP Convention for the state of Perak yesterday.

In addition, Lim reminded PH to work hard and endeavour to fulfill all the pledges contained in the 14th General Election manifesto to ensure that it would not become a one-term government, especially after the shocking result of the Tanjung Piai parliamentary by-election recently.

“If the Tanjong Piai by-election is a harbinger of the 15th General Election in 2023, then the PH government would be a one-term government and would be voted out of Putrajaya in the next general election,” he said.

Meanwhile, Perak DAP chairman, Nga Kor Ming who also touched on the Tanjung Piai by-election result, said it was the worst defeat in history because the votes given to the government represented only 26% of the total and this was a big slap to everyone.

“The message from the voters was clear, the people want us to keep our promises. The people want us to focus on developing the economy and they want us to reform the national administration system, if there are people who are still not aware, it is good that they withdraw,” he said.

At the same time, Nga who is also Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat said that the DAP would not compromise with any leader who breached party discipline and instructions because they were subjected to party constitution and discipline.

He said that every post in the government was nominated by the party and any member who failed to comply with party directives was not fit to hold any post.

“DAP is a clean party, with discipline and integrity and every DAP member is reminded not to insult the party by breaching discipline.

“They must be fully responsible if action was taken against them. When they commit a crime and disciplinary action is taken, they should do a self-reflection and not blame others for it,” he added.
