Lee Chong Wei is our chef de mission at Olympics 2020
PUTRAJAYA: Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has confirmed that retiring badminton champion Lee Chong Wei has been unanimously appointed as the chef de mission for the Tokyo Olympics Games next year.
He said this during a press conference this morning where Lee announced his retirement.
“Even though he chose to retire, high fighting spirits has not diminished. The fighting spirit of Lee Chong Wei will continue to burn in all the Malaysian athletes.
We will give full support to Datuk Lee. He is a hero to all Malaysians. After talking to Datuk Lee and Datuk Seri Norza, we have decided collectively to nominate Datuk Lee Chong Wei as chef de mission for the Tokyo Olympics.
“We cannot think of anyone better to fly our flag high and also give inspiration to our young athletes.”
