Lee Chong Wei haven’t decided on retirement yet
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s number one badminton player Datuk Lee Chong Wei has not decided on retirement. He acknowledged that there were speculations about his retirement as he was absent from training.
The three-time Olympic silver medallist insisted that he would announce his plans on his own terms.
“No, no. There’s no decision made yet,” Chong Wei told the Star Online today.
“Just because I’ve been absent from training, everyone is trying to speculate.
“I have yet to discuss with BAM about it (his intention to hang up his racquet). Before that meeting takes place, nothing is certain yet.
“If I’m indeed retiring or there’s other decisions made, I’ll inform the press on my own. No one speaks on my behalf,” he said.
Earlier today, Malay daily Berita Harian reported that Lee would be retiring next week as he wanted to avoid stress that could reignite nasal cancer which was cured,
