Latheefa Koya pledges corruption free environment for Malaysians

PUCHONG: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Latheefa Koya has pledged to create a corruption free environment for Malaysians on her first full day at work.

“I am also looking at long term action including education, to create an intolerant culture towards corruption.  It is the basic right of every Malaysian to live, work and prosper in a corruption free environment,” she said in a statement.

She is also optimistic of the support from MACC staff towards creating a graft intolerant and corrupt free society.

She also welcomed the various feedback over her appointment into the top anti-graft agency.

“Anyone has the right to question, criticise and air their views. That is fine.  My job is clear. That is to eradicate corruption wherever it is,” she said.

Various quarters have questioned Latheefa’s appointment that was done unilaterally by Prime Minister on June 1 and announced day before yesterday.

The Malaysian Bar and Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh are among those who questioned Latheefa’s appointment.
