Khalid: Umno practises thuggery, tie-up with PAS made them worse

PUCHONG: Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad today lashed out at Umno and PAS, accusing them of practising political thuggery and hypocrisy.

In a series of tweets, Khalid pointed out to the unruly behaviour of Umno lawmakers, particularly Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, who caused a ruckus at the Dewan Rakyat sitting yesterday.

“They accused me of being an agent provocateur who refuses to answer questions. I answered all questions posed at the Dewan Rakyat during the budget debate, except for questions raised by absent MPs.

“During the budget debate, nobody asked me questions about Kampung Bharu. But when I wanted to answer questions on other matters, only then they question me about it.

Targetting Tajuddin, Khalid accused the former deputy minister of being the most uncouth of them all, even to the extent of disrespecting the Speaker of the House.

“Pasir Salak was even ejected from the Dewan but he refused to leave. He has no respect for the Speaker or the Dewan Rakyat. Tajuddin was supposed to apologise but that is the gangster politics Umno practises.

“Umno MPs think they own the country and there is no need to respect the law. They are not fit to become lawmakers,” he said.

Touching on the upcoming Tanjong Piai by-election, Khalid said voters at the locality should use the polls to reject the Umno-PAS tie up for promoting racism and religious extremism.

“This is an opportunity for Tanjong Piai voters to reject the Umno-PAS partnership which is centred on racism and religious extremism. Please vote for Pakatan for unity and prosperity,” he said.

Citing the Tanjong Piai Umno division’s boycott against MCA candidate Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng as an example, Khalid said it showed how extreme Umno has become that it was rejecting the candidate from its own coalition partner.

“Umno’s right wing mentality is clearly shown when its Tanjong Piai division boycotted their own candidate’s nomination just because he is from MCA. They conveniently forgot that the seat was contested by MCA all the while.

“After becoming buddies with PAS, Umno’s right-wing extremism coupled with religious fanaticism is for open for everyone to see,” said the Shah Alam MP.
