PUCHONG: Former IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar urged human rights advocacy group Citizens Against Enforced Disappearances (Caged) to reconsider and apologise before he initiates his suit but the NGO remains adamant in its stand.

“Caged, relax have coffee and think it over. I give you 2 weeks to retract your statement and apologise,” he said via Twitter.

Caged however is adamant to take on Khalid in court.

“Two weeks, two days or two hours doesn’t matter. Our statement remains the same,” said Dobbie Chew to The Leaders Online.

Chew is Suaram’s documentation and monitoring coordinator and a member of Caged.

Yesterday Khalid threatened to sue Caged after it called for action against him for lying to the nation regarding this case.

In response to Khalid’s threat to sue, Caged member and Suaram executive director Sevan Doraisamy said they are ready for the suit.

“We are happy to face him (in court). We would not retract our statement. So let him…” said Suaram executive director and Caged member Sevan Doraisamy in a WhatsApp message to The Leaders Online.
