Israeli illegal settlements: Arab League slams US announcement
CAIRO: The Arab League today condemned US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s statement that his country no longer considers Israel’s illegal settlements in the West Bank to be inconsistent with international law.
Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported the pan-Arab organisation secretary general Ahmed Aboul Gheit, warned that this change in American position would embolden Israeli settlers to practice more violence and brutality against Palestinians, and undermine any prospect of achieving peace.
He stressed that US change in position undermines what is left of its moral legitimacy with regard to the matter.
