Ipoh’s new mayor to be appointed in nine days with Sultan’s consent

IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu dispelled concerns that Ipoh may not have a mayor as the replacement would be appointed within the next nine days.

He confirmed that Perak ruler, Sultan Nazrin Muizzudin Shah have already approved the new appointment.

“Hence the problem of not having a Datuk Bandar will be solved when the new candidate starts work,” he said after a ground-breaking ceremony for Pusat Pengajian Islam At-Taiyyibin at Tanah Hitam, Chemor.

Yesterday Perak exco for housing, local government, public transport, Non Muslim affairs and new villages, Paul Yong Choo Kiong confirmed that the incumbent mayor Datuk Zamri Man will be sacked as the latter had gone absent without leave (AWOL) for months.

Zamri also had used up his 90 days of medical leave prior to going (AWOL).
