Indonesia names new Health Minister

JAKARTA: While Indonesia recorded another 7,514 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Dec 23, hopes are now focused on the newly appointed Health Minister to deal with the virus infection which continues to rise.
Budi Gunadi Sadikin, 56, took his oath as the island republic’s health minister – replacing Terawan Agus Putranto.
“I believe that if we unite, together with the local government,…we can (can) build a strong public health service system and be ready to solve the SARS CoV-2 problem,” said Budi Gunadi at the Presidential Palace in Bogor.
Six new ministers, including Budi Gunadi, who was involved in the reshuffle of President Joko Widodo’s cabinet, were sworn in at the Presidential Palace in Bogor on Wednesday.
Based on data of the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency on Twitter (@BNPB_Indonesia) on Wednesday, another 151 deaths due to COVID-19 were reported, bringing the total number of victims to 20,408.
