IGP: We have yet to receive Adib’s inquest report
PUTRAJAYA: The police have yet to receive the official inquest report detailing firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s cause of death.
“Once we receive it, we will go through it. We will see what we can do, “said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador at a press conference today.
Also present was Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
On Sept 23, Coroner Rofiah Mohamad ruled that Adib’s death was criminal in nature, caused by two or three assailants during the riot at the Seafield Temple last year.
She also chided that police and the Federal Reserve Unit, saying that the agencies had failed to act to stem to riots, which eventually contributed to Adib’s untimely demise.
Speaking on the matter, Muhyiddin said that the government was already reviewing the police’s standard operating procedure prior to the inquest verdict.
“It was my instruction and not because of the Seafield incident that the SOPs of many agencies are being reviewed.
“We need to review them as they were set many years back. So, there is a need to change certain things. As far as I’m concerned, it’s an on-going process,” he said.
