Ibrahim Ali: GE15- Putra to focus on Selangor and Perak
KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) will put its focus in Selangor and Perak in its bid to secure victory in the 15th General Election, its pro-tem president, Datuk Dr. Ibrahim Ali said today.
Ibrahim, the former Pasir Mas member of parliament, described the two states as ‘critical areas’ in which he claimed non-Malay based parties were more dominant in its administration.
“We have aspirations of winning the next general election, and therefore, we will be outlining several important criterias that each party member must have.
“Putra intends to champion Islam and protect the rights of Bumiputeras,” he told reporters at a Press conference to announce the Registrar of Societies’ (RoS) approval for Putra to be registered as a political party, here today.
Ibrahim said Putra, which uses the Malay headgear as its official symbol, was formed on the back of requests from many quarters who are unhappy with the current political scenario.
The party will be holding its first general meeting very soon to elect committee members as well as set up state branches nationwide.
