HUR’s executive vice president Lena Karjaluoto is part of the research team at Welmed Labs, Health Science Unit, Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius, Finland. The team led by Professor Arto Hautala conducted research on cardiometabolic diseases. 

The research findings led them to the HUR medical concepts for cardiometabolic diseases including diabetesT2, falls prevention and, hip and knee rehabilitation.
