Hisham: 20 new COVID-19 cases recorded in M’sia, total at 149
PUCHONG: Health Ministry secretary general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 20 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country as of 12pm today.
He said with the new reported cases bring the new total of the novel coronavirus cases recorded in the country to 149.
“About 20 cases were confirmed infected with COVID-19 after they were put as Patient Under Investigation (PUI) while 124 cases were detected after contact tracing was done.
“One case was detected with severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) when COVID-19 surveillance was done and the other two cases were detected from the Humanity Mission,” he said in a statement today.
He said until today, two cases received treatment at intensive care unit (ICU) at Sungai Buloh Hospital and Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Bharu.
“Both their treatment needed respiratory equipment machine but now they are in stable condition,” he said.
He added that 66 Malaysian that were brought home from Wuhan, China under the Humanity Mission and put under quarantine at Leadership Higher Learning Academy in Seremban since Feb 26 are now allowed to go home.
“They tested negative for the coronavirus after their 14 day quarantine period are over,” he said.
Meanwhile, Hisham said the ministry are now searching for 5,000 Malaysian who attended a tabligh gathering at Masjid Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur from Feb 27 until March 1.
“This is because one of the attendees from Brunei has been confirmed infected with the coronavirus. Health department at each state in the country are looking for them now,” he said.
He advises all who attended the gathering that are showing symptoms to contact the nearest National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) at State Healh Department.
