Hisham: 14 new COVID-19 cases recorded, total now at 50
PUCHONG: Health Ministry director general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today that 14 new COVID-19 cases were recorded today, totalling the number of cases detected in Malaysia to 50.
Hisham described the sudden rise of the coronavirus cases as a ‘second wave” because several of the confirmed cases came in contact with Patient-26.
“After contact tracing was done for Patient-26, 16 new confirmed cases were detected.
“One of them is an officer working with Patient-26 and the other 15 cases attended the same activities as Patient-26.
“We tested 215 people who were in close contact with Patient-26. About 16 of them tested positive with COVID-19, 19 (negative) and another 180 are still waiting for their results,” he said, in a press conference.
Hisham said investigation on these cases are still ongoing and he advised the people to remain calm.
“If there are questions and doubts about COVID-19, they can get information and advise from www.moh.gov.my (Tanya Doktor),” he said.
Meanwhile, Hisham added Patient-1 until 22 were fully cured and discharged from hospital.
