PUCHONG: Heart disease is the number one killer in Malaysia, especially among smokers and people leading a sedentary lifestyle.
In a Facebook post, the Health Ministry said heart disease causes sudden death, where the heart stops pumping blood, nutrient and oxygen to the whole body.

“In 2018, the death toll cause by heart disease increased by 35.3%, to 18,675 cases from 13,503 cases just a year before,” said the statement.
Therefore, the Health Ministry advised Malaysians at risk to take notice of any changes occurring in their bodies to detect signs of heart attack.
“Get immediate help at a clinic or the nearest hospital if you suffer any of the symptoms mentioned,” said the statement.
