Haziq suspended, slapped with show cause letter

PUCHONG: Primary Industries deputy minister Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin announced that he has suspended the services of Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz with immediate effect.

Shamsul also said that Haziq has been slapped with a show cause letter yesterday, giving the latter three days to reply.

“The ministry will not hesitate to end his contract immediately if there is no response within the stipulated period,” he said.

Haziq serves as Shamsul’s senior private secretary.

This is following Haziq’s confession to being one of the two men caught having sex in a video that went viral this week. He also claimed that the other individual was Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Azmin had since denied the allegations and described it as an attempt to destroy his character and end his political career.

Shamsul said that he was shocked by Haziq’s recent attitude and said he was hired to the job as he was deemed qualified and capable for the responsibility.

“As such, his actions are shocking and very unexpected,” he added.

He, however, said that PKR vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin had claimed that Haziq’s background was dubious as the latter was seen to be close to the opposition.
