Gobind monitors 5G Demo Project in langkawi
KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo today visited the 5G Demonstration Project at the Langkawi International Airport.
The demonstration project will be launched at the island resort by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad tomorrow.
“Among those who will showcase their 5G technology use cases are @edotcoGroup@Celcom@umobile@digitelco@Maxis@myTMgroup.
“The airport is one of the locations where the 5G technology demonstration will be carried out,” he said in a post on his Twitter account.
The project would involve 11 live demonstrations of use cases at Langkawi 5G Command Centre, Sultanah Maliha Hospital and Langkawi International Airport.
According to the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research, the deployment of 5G technology would contribute up to RM12.7 billion between 2021 and 2025 to the nation’s economy and potentially create more than 39,000 new jobs.
Malaysia’s 5G journey began with the setting up of the National 5G Task Force in November 2018, comprising 114 organisations from the private sector, ministries and agencies.
