Foreigners denied a residence to live in

PUCHONG: Foreigners from certain region continue to face discrimination as they are denied a residence to live in.

One foreigner told The Leaders Online that the agent they met basically forwarded messages of condominium owners who did not want tenants from African and Middle Eastern countries.

“We asked for a final price to rent a condominium unit from an agent.  He eventually forwarded us a message from the condominium unit owners.

“They did not want tenants from Africa and Middle East,” said a Middle Eastern source.

The condominium in question is a unit at The Link 2 in Bukit Jalil.  The condominium residence project was developed by Berjaya Land Berhad.

“The owners want tenants who can maintain the property at a good value since they invested their hard-earned money.

The source revealed that the problem was not limited to foreigners but also locals.

“I posted the issue on Reddit and this form of discrimination are even faced by Malaysian Indians. Generalising people is not a good way to move forward.”

The source added that a complaint was forwarded to the management of the condominium but the management did not respond to it yet.
