Ezam lodges MACC report on MIMOS, calls for heads to roll
SHAH ALAM: The National Anti-Corruption Movement filed a report at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), on the alleged funds embezzlement by MIMOS Berhad.
Its movement’s chairman, Datuk Mohamad Ezam Mohd Noor arrived at MACC office in Shah Alam at 11am to lodge the report and left the place at about 12pm.
Also present by his side were his secretary Abdul Ghani Haroon and businessman S Gobi Krishnan.
Speaking at a press conference after lodging the report, Ezam said this was a follow up measure after MIMOS was exposed by the National Audit Department for embezzling funds.
“We made this report after receiving a copy of the Audit Department’s investigation report,” he said.
Ezam added that based on the investigation report, the Audit Department had asked the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) to investigate MIMOS’ directors and its top administration for embezzling allocations received under the 10th and 11th Malaysia Plan.
“However, we were informed that MITI did not take any action although the misappropriation involved a large sum of government funds,” he said.
In June last year, MIMOS announced that it had launched an investigation into the allegations levelled against the organisation.
Subsequently, MIMOS fired four of its executives after reviewing the findings of the probe.
