Early voting for Johor election begins at 64 centres statewide
JOHOR BAHRU, July 7 — A total of 64 early voting centres for the 16th Johor state election opened at 8am today to enable 24,751 members of the security forces and their spouses to fulfil their responsibilities.
According to Election Commission (EC) statistics, a total of 12,041 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and their spouses will carry out their responsibilities at 11 designated polling centres.
The remaining 12,710 voters, comprising Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel and General Operations Force (GOF) members and their spouses, are scheduled to cast their votes at 53 polling centres.
All polling centres will close in stages according to the set EC schedule starting at noon today until 6pm.
A Bernama survey found that weather conditions in several districts, including Batu Pahat, Muar, Pontian and Tangkak, were reported to be sunny.
On Saturday, approximately 2.7 million ordinary voters involving 56 state seats will cast their ballots.
