Dzulkefly: Antiviral drug only used on coronavirus patients with pneumonia
PUCHONG: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad today said that antiviral drug, Kaletra, will only be used to treat novel coronavirus patients with pneumonia.
“Other novel coronavirus patients will be given symptomatic treatment with continuous monitoring, without the need for the antiviral drugs,” he said, in a press conference today.
Yesterday, a 63-year-old man from China who underwent treatment at an isolation ward in Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for the 2019 coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection became the third case involving full recovery in Malaysia and was discharged.
Dzulkefly said until Feb 10, three cases of confirmed coronavirus patients were cured fully.
“One confirmed coronavirus case has been fully cured after the patient was given the antiviral drug.
“Whereas, the two other cases recovered after receiving symptomatic treatment,” he said.
