Dr M resigned? PMO says wait for official announcement

PUCHONG: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was said to have tendered his resignation to the Istana Negara earlier just now.
According to Sinar Harian and several other news agencies, the Prime Minister’s Office is scheduled to make an important announcement on the latest buzz soon.
However, The Leaders Online could not verify the matter independently as of press time.
This morning, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that he was ‘satisfied’ with the outcome of a meeting with Mahathir.
Speaking to the press, Anwar said that Mahathir had also agreed that the Pakatan Harapan coalition should remain steadfast on its reform agenda and no one should attempt to derail the plan.
“It’s a sufficient for me to say that it was a good meeting. I was moved by his attitude and position towards the changes that need to be done.
“I am satisfied with his position that principles are paramount and the reform agenda must be continued.
“We should not bow down to those who want to wrestle power without advocating the reform agenda,” said the Port Dickson MP.
Anwar added that he would make an announcement later at the PKR headquarters, after chairing a supreme council meeting.
Also present in the meeting with Mahathir were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah party president Mohamad Sabu.
When queried on the meeting, Lim, who is also Finance Minister, was tight-lipped on the matter.
“It was a very emotional meeting,” he said.
