COVID-19: Singapore reports 47 new cases, tally at 313
SINGAPORE: Singapore’s Health Ministry (MOH) yesterday reported 47 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the republic, bringing the tally to 313.
Of the cumulative total, 33 are imported cases with 30 are returning Singapore residents infected overseas, said MOH’s director of medical services Assoc Prof Kenneth Mak, at the Multi-Ministry Taskforce on COVID-19 press conference.
Meanwhile, the ministry in a separate statement said, the Singapore-Malaysia Special Working Committee was discussing a joint-mitigation plan, to ensure the safe and sustainable movement of people, goods and services between the two countries.
The committee is co-chaired by Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, and Malaysian Senior Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad.
Meanwhile, in view of the heightened risk of further importation of COVID-19 to Singapore, the republic will impose additional border controls and travel restrictions beginning March 20 at 2359 hours.
The republic’s Minister of National Development Lawrence Wong said, all travellers entering Singapore from all countries would be issued a 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN).
The travellers will have to provide proof of the place where they will serve the 14-day SHN said, Wong at the same COVOD-19 news conference.
