COVID-19: Negative result of health screening does not grant immunity

PUCHONG: Those who undergone COVID-19 health screening, detection test and confirmed, it does not mean they were negative to the outbreak forever, said Family Medicine Specialist, Dr Zienna Zufida Zainol Rashid.

She said if they were exposed to the COVID-19 outbreak, the individual could still be at risk.

“At the time the individual was negatively identified, after that date if the person was still exposed to risks such as meeting a COVID-19 patient or going to a public meeting where there was a confirmed COVID-19 patient, in that situation the individual could be infected.

“The fact is that the test does not mean that the person is negative forever,” he said, in a live broadcast on Facebook of MOH on the topic of “Know COVID-19” today.

The live broadcast, which was accompanied by MOH Medical Expert Dr Aizuniza Abdullah, aimed at addressing concerns raised about the COVID-19 outbreak to the public.

In this regard, Zienna said it is important to take precautionary measures such as washing hands, practicing social distance and sitting at home to prevent the spread of the outbreak, thus severing the COVID-19 infection chain.

Meanwhile, on the infamous allegation that Vitamin C can prevent COVID-19, Zienna said there have been no studies to date.

“Generally, Vitamin C can be used for dietary supplements but not to prevent COVID-19. There is no evidence of any study,” she said.
