BUKIT MERTAJAM, Oct 31 — The three Nepalese men, including the main suspect, believed to be involved in the murders of a woman and her daughter in Kampung Sekolah Juru here have had their remand period extended by another seven days until November 7.
The remand order against the men, aged in their 30s and 40, was issued by Magistrate Nurul Rasyidah Mohd Akit at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court today to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Earlier, the main suspect, along with two other men of the same nationality, including the main suspect’s brother, arrived at the court at 9am separately wearing police lockup attire.
On October 18, Sariya Che Hin, 51, and her adopted daughter Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, 11, were found dead in a house in Kampung Sekolah Juru, with the woman’s body found in the kitchen and the girl’s body on the top floor.
Following the incident, police detained the woman’s husband, 57, for a week until October 25, before arresting the three Nepalese men to assist in the investigation.
The main suspect was detained at the immigration office while attempting to flee abroad. The other two were arrested at a residence in Bukit Tengah here.
