Colony – a co-working space with luxury
KUALA LUMPUR: Despite the abundance of co-working spaces available in Malaysia – Colony – Malaysia’s leading luxury co-working space and serviced office provider stands out of the crowd after establishing itself two years ago.
“We focus on hospitality service and luxury and that seems to be working,” said Timothy Tiah at the recent launch of Colony at Star Boulevard KLCC – a 35,000 square feet coworking space.
He also spoke of his experience in developing Colony.
“We want to open five co-working and run it profitably. Of the five, four are running profitably. We broke even on the fourth to fifth month.”
The models that we are offering are also different compared to others,” he added.
He also admitted that many of the industry players are facing a market down period.
“Most are losing money but money can still be made. Our investors are made up of family businesses with a lot of money that is handled by other people.
He aspired to achieve the five-star status given to hotels so that the co-working space can be developed into business centre.

The colony offers five luxurious suites at RM10,000 per month. It is powered by Google Home.
There are mini bars, sofa and wireless charging facility in the luxury suites.
The offices also come with a personal butler and concierge services. There are also private rooms where one can make phone calls.
For those who have to bring their young children along to work, there is a playroom, whereas a nursing room is provided for breastfeeding mothers.
Private offices that can house between two to 20 staff are priced at RM1300 per person.
Another aspect that was noticed is the considerable amount of space in Colony as compared to other co-working spaces.
