Calling me Prime Minister is self defeating, says Mohamad Hasan
RANTAU: Umno acting president Mohamad Hasan who is seeking another shot in Rantau has shot down talks touting him as the next prime minister candidate since such talks are only detrimental to his political survival.
“Please don’t say that. I hope my friends, colleagues, won’t say that. The more you say that, the faster people will kill me.
“Not just outsiders, but even people in the party will sharpen their knives to stab me,” Mohamad said.
Among those who have referred to him as the future prime minister include Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and former MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam.
He also told the press that he would tell his colleagues to be silent if he heard them referring to him as prime minister as he had no plans to do so.
The Umno acting president is vying for another chance to win the Rantau state seat amidst challenges from PKR’s Dr S Streram and two other independents.
