Bukit Jalil Deepavali Carnival is back, attracting visitors from all over M’sia

KUALA LUMPUR: Deepavali is around the corner and the largest festive carnival for the occasion is being held at the Bukit Jalil Stadium.

Organised by Agenda Suria Communication Sdn Bhd, the 18th Deepavali Carnival is a nine-day event beginning Oct 18 till 26.

Operation hours are from 12pm to 7pm.

Visitors will find a variety of products in the carnival; be it home decorations, traditional clothes, desserts, jewelleries and others.

Traders involved in the carnival include locals and those from foreign nations such as Pakistan, India and others.

The event is attracting a good crowd, so much so that parking spaces are fully occupied by 11am.

Speaking to The Leaders Online, Mariano Leather director Shabeera Begum said she was happy with the response her booth is getting from the visitors.

“Our tea that we are selling is from Assam, North India. We are the distributors here.

“So far, I’m overwhelmed by the response we’re getting from the visitors,” she said.

Another trader from Elegant Communications said his business usually sees a surge of crowd during weekends.

“No doubt, business is better during weekends. I hope things will pick up as Deepavali comes near,” said the trader from New Delhi, who only wants to be known as Sartek.

On his merchandise, Sartek said that he has shipped them from India to cater for local Malaysians celebrating the Deepavali festivities.

“I have put up a lot of Deepavali things; candles, make-up for women, jewelleries, and decorative items, he said.

Pakistani Asfili Khan was exciting about Deepavali festivities, adding that he could a generate a good income during the Hindu religious celebration.

“It’s been very good. A lot of people like the blouse I’m selling. We have a promotion especially for Deepavali.”

“The response has been very good. I’m enjoying my time here and I think customers are also enjoying themselves shopping here,” he said.
