Boy with cystic hygroma will be placed under specialists’ care – Dr Adham
MERSING: The four-year-old boy in Kampung Semaloi, Endau here, who suffers from cystic hygroma will be monitored by specialists at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Bahru.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, when visiting Muhammad Rizqi Hafazan Mohd Rafizal, affectionately called Rizqi at his house today said the disease has caused him discomfort after his tongue started to swell following a fever, about six months ago.
“Rizqi has not been able to seek further treatment at the HSA for several months now…today’s visit is to arrange for Rizki to receive specialists’ care.
“For the time being we will provide him a suction machine to clear the airway and for easy breathing,” he told reporters here.
Dr Adham said Rizqi’s developmental milestones will also be monitored.
He said those who suffer from the rare disease need to be referred to specialists for better diagnosis and treatment.
Meanwhile, Rizqi’s father Mohd Rafizal Moosa, 42, who has been separated from his wife since a year ago said he had quit his job as a factory supervisor to give full attention to his son after parting ways with his ex-wife, more than a year ago.
The father of three said he had to change Rizqi’s clothes between five and six times a day as he drools due to the excess saliva.
“Rizqi can eat and drink but only in certain quantity…he also has tooth decay as he cannot brush his teeth properly,” he said.
